TAKE WHAT YOU NEED, GIVE WHAT YOU CAN

We have paternered with the Saginaw YMCA and FACTS ( Food Access Collaboration Team of Saginaw County). The mini pantry movement is a grassroots, crowdsourced solution to immediate and local need. Whether a need for food or a need to give, mini pantries help feed neighbors, nourishing neighborhoods.

Did your know 29% of those experiencing food insecurity do not qualify for federal nutrition programs. Houghton Jones is trying to do their part to assist with these disparaging percentages and try to do our best with providing meals for the youth, community gardening that teaches others to be self sufficient, and provide a pantry for those in need.

Michigan Health Improvement Alliance is working across a 14 county regions on improvements of the local food ecosystem and increasing access to healthy foods. Under that umbrella, multiple Local Food Policy Councils, like the Council in Saginaw (FACTS). FACTS has a great passion for this project.

With the help of FACTS, Eastern Michigan Food Bank, and the community we can help decrease food insecurities and promote healthy food choices!
