At Houghton Jones Neighborhood Association (HJNA), we believe that strong communities are built when neighbors support one another. One of the ways we live out that mission is through our HJNA Mini Food Pantry, a resource created to help families facing food insecurity and everyday household challenges.
The pantry has become a meaningful and reliable asset within our neighborhood. Each month, we typically serve 5 to 6 families, providing access to essential food items and basic household necessities during times when extra support is needed. Whether someone is experiencing a temporary hardship, stretching resources between paychecks, or simply in need of a little help, the pantry exists to ensure that no family feels alone.
We are proud to share that the pantry is available to community members Monday through Thursday between 10:00 AM and 5:30 PM at our HJNA building. Our goal is to make access as simple and welcoming as possible, removing barriers and offering support with dignity and compassion.
Always Accepting Donations
The continued success of the HJNA Mini Food Pantry is made possible through the generosity of community members, partners, and supporters. We are always accepting donations to help keep the pantry stocked for families who rely on it.
In addition to non-perishable food items, there is a growing need for household and personal care products, including:
-
Laundry detergent
-
Dish soap
-
Cleaning supplies
-
Paper products
-
Shampoo and conditioner
-
Hair care products
-
Soap and hygiene items
-
Toothpaste and toothbrushes
-
Deodorant
-
Feminine hygiene products
These everyday necessities are often the most requested and can make a significant difference for families managing tight budgets.
A Community Effort
The Mini Food Pantry represents more than food or supplies — it represents compassion, connection, and community care. Every donation, whether large or small, helps us continue to serve families with dignity and respect.
HJNA remains committed to maintaining this resource as long as there is a need. Together, with the support of our community, we will continue to uplift our neighbors and ensure families have access to essential items when they need them most.
If you would like to donate items or learn more about how to support the pantry, please contact HJNA or stop by during our operating hours.
Together, we are building a stronger neighborhood — one act of kindness at a time. 💚
